DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
To drive from the New York Metropolitan Area, there
are two local routes, each the same distance. Driving time from
Manhattan can be under 2 hours.
This is the
scenic way:
Take Route 17 West to Exit 101 (Ferndale), which is 2 miles from
Carrier House. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right.
Follow signs to Ferndale/Swan Lake (you'll drive back under Route
17. Don't take the immediate right which will get you back on Route
17 going east). Just before "Ferndale Marketplace Antiques"
(.4 mile) turn right on Ferndale-Loomis Rd.
Go up hill .2 mile and take first right on Upper Ferndale Rd.
Drive 1 mile to a fork, bear left, and at the stop sign turn left
onto Carrier St.
Drive .5 mile, then turn left into New Street, then right into first
driveway at "Carrier House" sign. The
driveway is a circular driveway, so stay to your left and park in
front of one of the two garage doors.
Here is an alternate route through Liberty's commercial district,
which is recommended especially during snowy or icy conditions:
Take Exit 100 (Liberty). At the end of the exit ramp turn left at
the stoplight; at the next stoplight turn left (onto Route 52 West),
cross the bridge over Route 17, go through 2 roundabouts, following
the signs to Route 55 West; at the next stop light turn left (onto
Route 55/Lake Street), and at the top of the hill take a sharp left
onto Carrier Street (there is a street sign). Take your third right
(you'll pass Hope Street and Albion Street on your right) onto New
Street, then into first driveway on your right at the "Carrier
House" sign. The driveway is a circular driveway, so stay to
your left and park in front of one of the two garage doors.

By bus from New York City:
Just a few blocks from the bus stop, Carrier House is an ideal destination
for city folks who do not have a car or who prefer not to drive.
From the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 42nd St., take the Short
Line Express Bus to Monticello, then transfer to a local Short Line
bus to Liberty's Main Street, where you can walk or take a cab up
the Lake Street hill to 64 Carrier Street.
